Neoprene sheet

Neoprene, also known as chloroprene rubber or CR, is one of Ace’s sheet material options. Identify the grade, hardness, dimensions and specification references required for your application.

Temperature limits, fluid compatibility and other performance requirements depend on the compound and service conditions. Confirm these details for the grade you plan to order.

INDUSTRIES AND USES

  • Neoprene is used in mass transit, construction, automotive and military applications, including sealing components.

  • Common neoprene applications include fluid seals, insulators, shock absorbers, vibration mounts, bearing pads, washers, gaskets, door seals and window seals. Confirm the required performance for the selected compound and service conditions.

NEOPRENE SPECIFICATIONS

  • AMS 3204 - Synthetic low temperature resistant - ( 25 - 35 Duro ) This specification covers a synthetic rubber in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, molded shapes, and extrusions. Primarily for parts, such as sleeves, fairings, grommets, and window channels, where resistance to low temperature is of prime importance. PDF Link

  • AMS 3207 - Weather resistant - ( 25 - 35 Duro ) This specification covers a chloroprene (CR) rubber in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, and molded shapes. PDF Link

  • AMS 3208 - Weather resistant -( 45 - 55 Duro ) See the AMS 3207 reference above.

  • AMS 3209 - Weather resistant - ( 65 - 75 Duro ) This specification covers a chloroprene (CR) rubber in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, extrusions, and molded shapes. These products have been used typically for parts requiring resistance to weather, such as window channels, bumper pads, chafing strips, and seals, for use from -40 degrees to +100 degrees C (-40 degrees to +212 degrees F), but usage is not limited to such applications. See the AMS 3207 reference above.

  • AMS 3240 -  Weather resistant ( 35 -45 Duro ) See the AMS 3209 reference above.

  • AMS 3241 - Weather resistant ( 55 - 65 Duro ) See the AMS 3209 reference above.

  • MIL-R-3065 - ASTM D2000 - This specification establishes the requirements for fabricated products of vulcanized rubber, synthetic rubber, or rubber-like compositions alone or in combination, together with procedures for the inspection of such products. PDF Link

  • MIL-I-3930 JNL - Contact Ace for more information about this specification.

  • MIL-PRF-1149 - ( Type 2 Class 1 ) - This specification covers vulcanized synthetic rubber gasket materials of nominal 50 and 65 durometer hardness. PDF Link

  • MIL-R-6855 - ( Class 2 A & B ) and AMS-R-6855 - ( Class 2 ) -- This specification covers the requirements for low temperature resistant sheets, strips, and molded or extruded shapes fabricated from synthetic rubber. PDF Link

  • MIL-R-6855 - ( Class 4 ) and AMS-R-6855 - ( Class 4 ) - See PDF link for MIL-R-6855 above
